Dear Editor: As a father and grandfather, I’m very upset by the information that Gov. Evers is advocating for the legalization of marijuana within the upcoming Wisconsin funds. However, this doesn’t shock me as Democrats are selling this on the federal stage additionally.
These politicians appear to neglect that for years they condemned the tobacco business for ruining our well being and driving up insurance coverage prices, and attractive younger individuals into making an unhealthy, addictive way of life selections. Having realized nothing from these experiences, these identical lawmakers wish to legalize one thing that may be much more dangerous.
Money-minded pro-marijuana backers really feel that Wisconsin is dropping out on tax advantages as a result of we wouldn’t have authorized leisure marijuana. But that is merely not true. The Colorado Christian University’s Centennial Institute states that “$4.57 is spent to mitigate marijuana’s effects for every $1.00 it generates.”
I reached out to my state senator, Howard Marklein, on this concern since he helps write the Wisconsin funds because the chair of the Joint Finance Committee. Thankfully, he stands firmly towards the legalization of marijuana in Wisconsin. For the way forward for our children and grandkids, we can not let legalization occur in our state. In reality, we needs to be doing extra to curb its use.
If Evers have been to be completely trustworthy, I’m positive he wouldn’t need his grandchildren to make use of marijuana even whether it is authorized.
